UGCunion
The idea
Join the volunteer media community using skills to benefit humanity. We are drawing a diverse selection of people who want to and are able to volunteer their skills to work together on projects of their choosing in order to address tomorrows problems.
UGCunion is an evolving voluntary media organisation that empowers users to generate content that addresses social problems.
To participate join the UGCunion:
- Become a official private member by donating at least £1 a month.
- Then feel free to donate any skills, materials, project proposals to any of the work as you see fit.
It’s philanthropy gone social (reality not virtually social that is).
What social need does it address?
- UGCunion creates a grouping of people who want to stand up for the rights of people who create content – be it video, photo’s, blogs or just metadata from using social sites.
- It demonstrates and then empowers everyone to create their own work starting from nothing just by donating their time and items.
Inspired by things such as Barcamp and Ted conferences, UGCunion takes the next step and lets the grass roots members of the public chose what they want to do so they become the event organisers.
What inspired you?
After researching web developments, Ofcoms PSP consultation and commercial failure dangers, this new organisation was born. It uses the club/union organisational structure to enable the public to interact and group together for the benefit of individuals and humanity.
