How it works
- Think of an idea for how the social Web could be used to facilitate social change. You can use our examples and our blog for inspiration.
- Take a look at our ideas criteria to find out more about the sort of thing we’re after. Your idea will need to be focused on addressing a specific social need, the technology must be central to its purpose and it must be innovative.
- Answer our idea submission questions and send it back to us. Your idea can be ‘private’, in which case we won’t share it with anyone, or ‘public’ and we will post it on our site for you or others to add comments and further explanation. Submissions close on Friday 7th March 2008
- Then our selection process begins. Out of the ideas submitted to us, our advisory board will choose the ones which we think will benefit most from coming to the Social Innovation Camp weekend. Successful applicants will be notified by Monday 17th March 2008.
- Join an idea team. We need your help to turn selected ideas into reality. Let us know if you’d like to help out.
- Check out who else is coming to Social Innovation Camp, fill out your own profile and start connecting with people before the event via our website.
- Meet the people who could help turn your idea into reality. The Social Innovation Camp weekend will be an open space meeting. The weekend will be structured around the selected ideas, but there’ll be plenty of scope to explore beyond these and lots of discussion and practical hands-on stuff. No powerpoint in sight. You can find out more about how the weekend will be structured here.
- Pitch your prototype. We’re hoping that by the end of the weekend you’ll be part of a group with a basic working model for a new venture. The event will close with a pitching process which will include some prizes for the winning pitches.
- Start your venture. Social Innovation Camp is all about creating the relationships needed to start new projects and we hope your ideas won’t end with the weekend. We’re currently thinking about the best way to help you pursue your venture – or if you’d prefer, find someone to take it on for you.
