We’ve been planning and scheming away since our last big Social Innovation Camp in December 2008.

And we’re really pleased to announce that we’re coming to Scotland this June!

From Friday 19th to Sunday 21st June 2009 at the Saltire Centre in Glasgow, we’ll be attempting our usual trick and bringing together some of the best of the UK’s software developers and designers, together with those at the sharp end of social change. They’ll have just 48 hours to build some web-based solutions to a set of social problems – from back-of-the-envelope idea to working prototype, complete with software.

But first off, we start with a call for ideas: we want to find the most exciting ideas for how the web could change stuff that really matters. You can enter your idea when our call opens on the 30th March. And remember you don’t need to be based in Scotland to get involved.

Help us find the next Enabled by Design

This the third Social Innovation Camp of its kind – but it’s the first time we’re taking the idea out of London and north of the border.

And what better time to be doing all this again when the winner of our first ever Social Innovation Camp weekend held in April last year has just launched their new website: Enabled by Design is a community of people passionate about well designed everyday products.

By sharing their loves, hates and ideas, Enabled by Designers challenge the one size fits all approach to assistive equipment through the use of clever modern design. It’s the brainchild of Denise Stephens, who was inspired by her own experience following her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Check out their brand new site over here. So the search for our next Enabled by Design begins on the 30th March. More information about how to get involved and what our plans are for the next few months will be up on the Social Innovation Camp Scotland site very soon.
